During my recent trip to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, I decided to book a stay with Mercure KL Shaw Parade with my recently attained leClub AccorHotels Gold status upgrade with the Ibis Business Card.
Though it is my first time visiting the hotel, I had ear-marked it since late last year when I first saw it as one of the upcoming new properties to open. With this trip to KL, I took the chance to stay 2 nights there.
The hotel is located within 5 minutes walk from the KL Monorail Imbi Station and Berjaya Times Square. It is co-located with the Shaw Parade Shopping Centre where there is a big Eu Yan Seng store located next door. There is also some Vegetarian, Halal and Chinese eateries along the main road leading to the hotel. A row of 24 hours convenience stores is located just opposite the hotel.
The nearby Bukit Bintang shopping belt is just about 10 minutes walk away. There is also the Ikea Cheras not too far a distance away by Taxi, or you could hop on the free shuttle bus at Chan Sow Lin LRT. You could also check out the new Zouk Malaysia which is not really located very far away by Uber or GRAB too.

The 213 rooms hotel recently had its grand opening on February 24, 2017. Here are some photos of various interesting spots around the hotel premise.

Apart from the nice room set up, I was treated to two surprises from the hotel. While during my last visit to Kuala Lumpur last August 2016. Ibis Styles KL
gave me a plate of Green Apples for returning to visit them over the years. I felt very welcomed by the gesture from Mercure to offer me fruits platter and a mini bar on the house. Though I am not very certain what was the reason behind this mini bar special arrangement, I feel it was a good gesture no doubt.

While during my stay the new mini fridge malfunctioned, however, the staff were very friendly and attentive to remedy the issue immediately. It was later on that I got to understand why it malfunctioned. Due to the fridge was designed to use naturally circulating air to cool and create the condensation within its storage compartment. As due to initial design constraints, poor placement of the fridge in the room might have it to malfunction and thus breakdown. While, such issues might not always happen, but it would always be advisable to test every single part of the items in the hotel room when one check in.
