Future World (2017) @ ArtScience Museum, Marina Bay Sands Singapore

Here are some of the newly updated sections of the Future World Exhibition to check out when you do your next visit. While some of the previously available experience has been retained, the team has innovated and added new spaces and experiences to the entire layout of the showcase.

We will walk through some of the new updates and experiences in this post. It will be good to check it out soon during the school holidays and long weekends coming up.

As per previously, the exhibition is divided into 4 sections – Nature, Town, Park & Space. Each section provides us with a unique experience. A total of 15 different activities inside the exhibitions to engage in. Here is a sneak peek at some of the new additions. It will be wise to experience it yourself when you are there.

Nature (Newly revamped section)

As you enter the exhibit, you will notice two Queue lines. One is towards a 4 minutes 30 seconds video of the digital artwork titled Crows are Chased and the Chasing Crows are Destined to be Chased as well, Transcending Space. This is an interesting and special art installation worth watching with nicely choreographed music. Do note that you can stand or sit inside the room to experience. A word of caution if you have motion sickness to sit down and enjoy the experience.

After watching the CROWS, next on the list to visit will be the next room. If you skip CROWS, you will enter this room titled Black Waves.

Experience Black Waves as you lay down on the beanbag cushions.

The next room leads us all to this huge slide installation titled ‘Sliding through the Fruit Field‘. While I was riding the slide, it brings me back to my childhood days where I would spend some days at the playground playing with the slide. This slide is unique for the digital projection of the plants on the slide.

Upon taking a ride down the slide, we enter the main activity area where we experience the Town and Park sections of the exhibition.

Town & Park

Over at the Town and Park sections, we get to do some hands-on craft as well as get to play with the little tools available. As per the previous post in 2016 (you can access it here), some of the older installations still remain in the exhibition – Graffiti Nature, Sketch Town, Sketch Aquarium, Light Ball Orchestra, Story of the Time When Gods were Everywhere (Just to name a few).

While the newly added installations include the “Create! Hopscotch for Geniuses” which you get to design a digital hopscotch and Queue it for play.

The final stop is the Crystal Universe which never fails to amuse me. For one, this time I was more prepared to stay on the one-way path longer to capture more crystal moments within the walkthrough. As there was a lesser crowd, it also means I could spend more time taking photos while I observe the light transformation with the mirror effects as you see below. To add on to the experience, you could download an app or check out the teamLab website link on how to interact with the Crystal Universe.
