Not know to many is the Inspiration Lake Recreation Centre – located about 1km away from Disneyland Resort station (it is within 15 minutes walking distance from the Disneyland Resort Station). It is pretty much well hidden unless you take the hotel shuttle buses which passes by the exterior or notice the greeneries while on board the Disneyland resort line from Sunny Bay station. It is a 30-hectare park with an artificial lake located in Penny’s Bay, Lantau Island, Hong Kong. The lake, opened on 16 August 2005, was created as part of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort as a dual-purpose project for recreation and an irrigation reservoir.
As magical as it seems, this park is managed by the HK government. Nope, it is not own by HK Disney. But that aside, it spots very Disney friendly features. There is also the botanic garden located right at the other end of the Inspiration Lake Recreation Centre – a short walk across the flyover that link it up. There you can get to see some birds and butterflies roaming freely in the butterfly park.
